Description

A small constructive breakdown of how I make most of my paleo-reconstructions. - A lot was skipped on how I get the proportions (I use skeletal references most of the time), but it at least shows enough of the process so that others might be able to easily replicate the technique.

Finding good reference images that are very high resolution is the most critical (and most time consuming) part about making the reconstructions.

If I had the money and the time, I would buy an expensive, huge megapixel digital camera, with a good lens, and go to the zoo and get all the reference materials myself, profiles of animals, closeups of feet and heads (which is important, its so hard to find full body pictures of an animal that includes their feet! sometimes I have to add feet separately), and good reference images of skin/fur/scale/feather textures. Someday that will happen but for now, most of my references are floating around on the web (though, you probably wouldn't recognize them.)
